Dear Mom Dad & Alan
I am now in Naharia which is a resort & industrial city North of Haifa. It is typical Catskill Mountains in all respects except that industry is also present. Last night was spent in another beautiful pool for night bathing with a group from a nearby Israeli army rest camp. Every soldier is required to take 2 weeks of rest at the seashore resort in nice tents on the beach at Government expense. After the type of training they underwent they deserve it. I just jumped out of the pool to write this letter. IT IS ABOUT 200 FT. BY 50 FT. It’s gorgeous.
As I look up now I see a full flight of Israeli jets zooming overhead & diving past. They look great.
Please note the change of address on the other side as the group has left Jerusalem already. It’s hard to write here so hope everything is OK

Soldiers Being Given 2-week vacation at Government Expense

The Catskill Mountains is a Summer Resort where New Yorkers went for the Summer.

As a soldier with children in the Israeli Army, I think soldiers should be given 2-week vacations on the beach at government expense as was done in 1957. Soldiers should also be given some sort of vacation inside Israel when they finish the Army.
