Friday Morning, August 30th, 1957
Dear Dad Mom & Alan,

I returned to Jerusalem today & found mail from you dated August 13 & August 22. The mail you wrote in between they must have misplaced. As for my plans, I will leave here some time either next week or else Sept 11, & get to N.Y. either the 19, or else the 12th depending on the plane tickets. As you can see nothing is definite yet but will let you know as soon as it is. I am going now to visit the Hebrew University. Hope everyone is fine & you will excuse the shortness of the letter. Time just flies by.

Love,
Bob

David’s Comments:

“I returned to Jerusalem today & found mail from you dated August 13 & August 22. The mail you wrote in between they must have misplaced.”

I asked my father if he has the letters that his parents or Alan sent to him while he was in Israel. He remembers receiving the letters, but he thinks he left them in Israel.

When Bob returned to Jerusalem after touring for nine days, he had expected to receive more than two letters, since he had written them almost everyday.
This shows my father’s respect for his parents that he did not want to make them feel bad for possibly not having written as much as he did.  He also apologizes for the shortness of his letter.

Lessons for Today:

Add link to HU Mt. Scopus and Givat Ram. Getting to Mt. Scopus during Jordanian rule.
The need to build Givat Ram since access to Mt. Scopus too dangerous.
